Provides improvement of the voice with regular simple exercises
Most patients with voice change where there is no structural problem of the voice box, notice an improvement in their voice quickly with voice therapy
Voice therapy will provide strategies and techniques to help you use your voice effectively, aiming to reduce vocal tract discomfort and improve the overall quality of your voice.
Most patients with voice change who do not have a structural abnormality, will be using their voice in a way that is ‘straining’ it. If the voice change does not settle with voice rest and hydration, voice therapy with a voice and speech therapist will be beneficial.
A voice and speech therapist will assess the voice, posture, neck tension and breathing and as a result offer vocal hygiene advice and specific voice exercises. The therapist will encourage the patient to perform daily voice exercises at home, in between supervised consultations
